CPM Consulting Ltd Company has signed a contract for realization of expert supervision for realization of construction works for new objects and facilities, reconstruction and upgrade of existing objects and facilities and construction of outside infrastructure for the Copper Smelter Expansion Project within the Serbia Zijin Bor Copper Ltd Complex Bor.
Zijn Mining Company is planning to increase the capacity for production of copper cathode from current 80,000 t/y to 150,000 t/y with the possibility of additional increase to 200,000 t/y.
Parts of the facility will be constructed to allow for the needs of the 200,000 t/y capacity immediately while in other parts, the necessary space for additional increase in capacity will be allocated for future use. In addition to the increase in the production capacity of the smelter, reconstruction will include upgrading outdated equipment and improving Environment Protection Measures.
The Project plans for construction of a new fugitive emissions system and a desulphurisation facility, a sulphuric acid plant, a waste water treatment facility, a new electrolysis facility, a new flotation facility, a lab, and a new transformer station.
The Project includes reconstruction of all the processing and auxiliary objects, starting with the transport of the copper concentrate to the processing facilities and all the way to the production of the copper cathode.
The Project includes the following systems: system for raw material preparation, melting system, electrolysis system, system for production of acid from tail gases, slag flotation, service systems, and transport and information systems.
There are plans for reconstruction of the facilities for batch preparation, construction of a new system for steam drying with the capacity of 82 t/h which will be located south of the current steam dry facility, reconstruction of the main smelter object, replacement of two existing non-functioning converters with two new converters of larger capacity and with the system for cooling gases with a boiler utilizer and dedusting in an electrostatic filter.
In the anode refinery facility, two new furnaces with an appropriate gas system will be constructed, a new water cooled casting wheel will be installed to replace the existing wheels, the slow cooling slag space will be reconstructed, and a new system for treatment of waste gas from the converter will be constructed.
